Julia Roberts announced as the face of Givenchy

PanARMENIAN.Net - While Versace got Madonna as their new face, Givenchy is proud to announce Julia Roberts as their model for Spring Summer 2015 ad campaign. She is picked by the fashion house because she "showcases all facets of that character with strength and eternal style," AceShowbiz reported.

The first pictures from the shoot have arrived online. They are black-and-white images which show the 47-year-old actress wearing tuxedo and men's shirt with no makeup on. "It was a very pure message," creative designer Riccardo Tisci told Style.com. "A powerful woman, with sex appeal but at the same time with masculinity."

Her famous smile was also absent from the pictures. "I said to her, 'Because your smile is so beautiful and everybody knows you for that, I think it should be no smile,' and she was really cool," he recalled. "She saw the first picture and she liked it, she said because 'I can see myself, my real self.' Which was the concept, not to try to make her glamorous."

"She's one of the few [stars] that you don't know much about. She doesn't do fashion shoots, she doesn't do covers, she doesn't do all of that. But still, she's one of the most well-known people in the world," the designer explained. "Today, celebrity has become so much [about] how many followers you have, how big you are on Facebook. For me, she represents a pure talent and a pure beauty. So many celebrities are celebrities today not because of their talent. That's fine, it's the moment today. But she's an iconic actress."

In a chat with Yahoo!, Julia herself said of the photo shoot, "Well, it's impossible for me to be totally objective and not make four or seven jokes right now. I wish I looked like that! If you could see me right now, you'd be laughing so hard. I think they're very cool images and I think all the clothes would have been things I would have chosen for myself."

Of her lack of interest in posting her pictures and writing what she's up to online, she said, "Social media would just be another thing that I'd neglect. There just aren't enough hours in the day."

Juggling her life as a mother and a career woman was enough of a challenge as she said, "Especially for working moms, there's so much pressure to do it all and be it all and have it all, and I think the best thing to do is to give ourselves a break and say, let's put forth our best efforts. As long as everyone is tucked in, happy and healthy at the end of the night, we've crossed the finish line."
