Samsung denies Blackberry purchase talks rumors

PanARMENIAN.Net - Both Samsung and Blackberry have denied a report claiming that Samsung is interested in buying BlackBerry.

As Digital Spy said citing Reuters, the Galaxy smartphone maker offered to pay as much as $7.5 billion for its Canadian competitor.

The report suggests executives from the two companies have been negotiating a possible deal with advisers as recent as last week.

Samsung's interests apparently lie in BlackBerry's patent portfolio, however BlackBerry has issued a statement denying any such talks.

"BlackBerry has not engaged in discussions with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry," the company said. "BlackBerry's policy is not to comment on rumours or speculation."

Samsung has also responded, saying: "Media reports of the acquisition are groundless."
