Villages on border with Azerbaijan given tax exemption

PanARMENIAN.Net - The government of Armenia will grant tax exemption to the villages on the border with Azerbaijan. Specifically, 31 villages where farming lands remain unused over the dangers of Azeri shelling will be relieved of business taxes.

The following settlement at the border with Nakhichevan will be granted tax exemption (with the exclusion of income tax for physical persons): Yeraskh (Ararat Province), Khachik, Khndzorut, Sers, Nor Aznaberd and Bardzruni (Vayots Dzor Province); Vahan (Gegharkunik Province) and 24 villages in Tavush Province: Nerkin Karmir Aghbyur, Voskevan, Choratan, Koghb, Vazashen, Berkaber, Chinari, Artsvaberd, Tsaghkavan, Mosesgegh, Dovekh, Paravakar, Berdavan, Barekamavan, Koti, Baghanis, Sarigyugh, Aygedzor, Kirants, Aygepar, Sevkar, Aygehovit, Voskepar, Verin Karmir Aghbyur, Armenia Today reports.

In December 2014, the government of Armenia ruled to compensate 50% of the utility payments for gas, power and irrigation water to the residents of border villages starting January 1, 2015.

As the Territorial Administration Minister Armen Yeritsyan had stated at a cabinet sitting, the villagers will also be exempted from the land and property taxes. To benefit from the government’s move are the residents of 32 rural communities in Tavush, Ararat, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor provinces
