Apple's iOS 9 in for sweeping changes, report suggestsJanuary 21, 2015 - 11:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple's iOS 9 could be in for sweeping changes to take advantage of the more powerful hardware inside the iPhone 6S, reports suggest. Rumblings from the company's Asian supply chain point to an iPhone 6S with 2GB of RAM, double the amount inside its predecessor, Digital Spy reports citing Forbes. Such rumours have given rise to speculation that Apple is planning to dramatically overhaul its next mobile operating system to harness the extra memory. Adding credence to the reports, Apple traditionally follows an incrementally-updated operating system with a fresh build, and iOS 8 retained the design of iOS 7. However, iOS 9 would have to function on devices packing 1GB of RAM to avoid alienating much of Apple's user base. The iPhone 4S, with 512MB of RAM on board, may be phased out. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6S later this year, but is yet to confirm its future plans for iOS.
