iPhone 6S “to be powered by Samsung chip”January 27, 2015 - 12:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple is reportedly enlisting the help of Samsung to provide processors for its upcoming iPhone 6S, Digital Spy reveals. The Cupertino firm is believed to have dropped its rival as chip supplier for its iPhone 6 handsets in favour of an exclusivity agreement with TSMC, but Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper has received word of a U-turn on this policy. Samsung is said to have secured a contract to provide 75% of the processor production for Apple's next flagship smartphones. The South Korean firm will reportedly provide the chips from its manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas, but it is unclear which other companies will share the responsibility. The Galaxy platform holder was a key component supplier for the iPhone 5S two years ago, providing the A7 SoC at its core.
