Author Harper Lee to publish

PanARMENIAN.Net - "To Kill a Mockingbird" has become the masterpiece of author Harper Lee for decades. But in a short time, Harper Lee will publish another novel entitled "Go Set a Watchman". Publisher Harper announced on Tuesday, February 3 that 304-page "Go Set a Watchman" book would be released on July 14. The novel was completed by Lee in the 1950s, AceShowbiz reports.

The novel was actually written before "To Kill a Mockingbird", which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. Although "Go Set a Watchman" was written first, the story of the novel is a continuation of Lee's previous novel, and it has overlapping themes and characters.

The author said, "I was a first-time writer, so I did as I was told. I hadn't realized it (the original book) had survived, so was surprised and delighted when my dear friend and lawyer Tonja Carter discovered it. After much thought and hesitation, I shared it with a handful of people I trust and was pleased to hear that they considered it worthy of publication. I am humbled and amazed that this will now be published after all these years."

Lee's first novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" published in 1960, and has sold around 40 million copies all over the world. The novel also has been translated into more than 40 languages and adapted into a film in 1962. "To Kill a Mockingbird" film was added to the National Film Registry in 1995. Gregory Peck starred in this film as Atticus Finch. American Film Institute listed Peck's Atticus Finch as the greatest movie hero of the 20th century in 2003.
