Action specialist Jaume Collet-Serra is attached to direct from an adapted script by Sheldon Turner. Producers are Kevin Misher, Jennifer Klein, Collet-Serra and his partner Juan Sola through their Ombra Films company. Producers are developing “Target America: A Sniper Elite Novel,” centering on an unofficial team of former Special Forces operatives seeking to stop Chechen terrorists who smuggle a Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border. The key character is Navy SEAL Gil Shannon. McEwen teamed with Jim DeFelice on Chris Kyle’s 2012 memoir “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.” Warner Bros.’ “American Sniper” had reached $310 million in domestic box office as of Thursday.
