Bradley Cooper’s "American Sniper" named highest-grossing film of 2014

PanARMENIAN.Net - "American Sniper" is officially the highest-grossing film of 2014. According to reports, the war drama directed by Clint Eastwood has made $337.2 million since its limited release on Christmas Day, surpassing "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" that has raked in an estimated $336.9 million domestically, AceShowbiz reports.

With around $58 million to make, Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's "American Sniper" which is also a huge success internationally centers on the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who is known as the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.

Based on Kyle's autobiography of the same title, the film received rave reviews from critics and was nominated for multiple awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture that was eventually won by "Birdman".

For his role as Kyle, Bradley Cooper also received a Best Actor nod at the annual event held last month, but he lost the title to Eddie Redmayne who appeared as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything".
