Android Wear “to introduce support for built-in Wi-Fi with next update”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Google's Android Wear operating system will reportedly introduce support for built-in Wi-Fi with its next update, according to Digital Spy.

A purported inside source has told The Verge that the long-awaited feature will be introduced along with other improvements in the near future.

Wi-Fi support would allow compatible Android smartwatches to maintain connectivity in the absence of a Bluetooth connection.

Many Android Wear devices are Wi-Fi-ready and will be able to take advantage of the feature once Google flicks the switch.

Other improvements included in the forthcoming update include gesture controls, which will enable users to scroll through menus with a flick of their wrist, and a refined interface.

Reports of Wi-Fi support on Android Wear follow confirmation that rival device the Apple Watch will be released on April 24, with pre-orders commencing on April 10.
