2015 Cannes Film Fest official graphic to feature Ingrid Bergman

PanARMENIAN.Net - Actress Ingrid Bergman will grace the official graphics at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, which on Monday revealed this year’s poster, TheWrap said.

Calling the actress “a modern icon, an emancipated woman, an intrepid actress and a figurehead for the new realism,” the Cannes press release said that the poster was based on a photograph by David Seymour and designed by Herve Chigioni.

Bergman, who died in 1982, was born in August 1915, making this year the 100th anniversary of her birth.

“My family and I are deeply moved that the Festival de Cannes has chosen to feature our magnificent mother on the official poster to mark the centenary of her birth,” said Bergman’s daughter, Isabella Rossellini, in the press release. “Her outstanding career covered so many countries, from the smallest European independent films to the greatest Hollywood productions. Mum adored working as an actress: for her acting was not a profession but vocation. As she put it, ‘I didn’t choose acting, acting chose me.'”

The documentary “Ingrid Bergman, in Her Own Words” will screen in the Cannes Classics portion of the festival, and Cannes will also participate in a tribute organized by Rossellini and visiting five cities beginning in the fall.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival will begin on May 13 and run through May 23. Directors Joel and Ethan Coen will serve as the presidents of the jury. The lineup will be announced on Apr. 16.
