Muse frontman opens up about concept behind new album, “Drones”March 26, 2015 - 11:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has opened up about the concept behind their upcoming new album, Drones, Gigwise reports. Earlier this week, the band premiered new single 'Dead Inside' before ending their intimate UK Psycho tour with a huge show in Brighton. Anticipation for the album couldn't be much higher, but now Matt Bellamy has opened about the theme of Drones. "Drones explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors", he told BBC Radio One - adding that it acts as "a modern metaphor for what it is to lose empathy". "I think that through modern technology, and obviously through drone warfare in particular, it’s possible to actually do quite horrific things by remote control, at a great distance, without actually feeling any of the consequences, or even feeling responsible in some way," he continued. "The next step in drones is gonna be autonomous drones, which actually make ‘kill’ decisions themselves, where no humans are involved." Muse release Drones on 8 June, before headlining Download Festival alongside Slipknot, Kiss, Marilyn Manson and more.
