"Southpaw" boxing drama 1st trailer features Jake Gyllenhaal (video) March 28, 2015 - 12:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The first trailer for Antoine Fuqua's boxing drama "Southpaw" has landed online. It features Jake Gyllenhaal as a reigning Junior Middleweight Champion who is struggling to turn his life around after losing it all and falling from his grace, AceShowbiz reports. Gyllenhaal transforms into a ripped boxer after playing a super skinny Louis "Lou" Bloom in "Nightcrawler". Fuqua told Deadline, "I had him training twice a day in the boxing ring, he did two-a-days seven days a week. I pretty much had him with me and my trainer every day." "He was training like a fighter," the director added. "I had him sparring, really getting hit. I put him in situations where I wanted to see what he was made of. No one but fighters understand the sacrifice it takes to be a fighter." The actor is joined by Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker, Naomie Harris, and 50 Cent in the cast ensemble. The film is scheduled by The Weinstein Company to make its way out across the country on July 31.
