Asa Butterfield "frontrunner to play new Spider-Man"

Marvel may have found its new Spider-Man. According to Latino-Review, Asa Butterfield ("Hugo", "Ender's Game") is the studio's top choice among the list of candidates which includes Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet, and Liam James, AceShowbiz reports.

The rebooted Spidey is confirmed to follow Peter Parker during his high school years. Casting news is expected to be announced soon as the webslinger will be re-introduced in "Captain America: Civil War" which is entering production for a planned May 6, 2016 release.

The iconic character will later get his own solo live-action movie. He will also be brought to the big screen in an untitled animated Spider-Man movie. Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("The Lego Movie") will get involved in the animation along with "The Amazing Spider-Man" producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
