Samsung's Galaxy S6 Active smartphone now official

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung's Galaxy S6 Active has been officially announced following numerous leaks and rumours, Digital Spy reports.

The rugged handset was revealed in a promotional video by U.S. network AT&T, which has an exclusive on the device at launch.

The Galaxy S6 Active is aimed at exercise enthusiasts and outdoor types, its headline feature being an IP68 waterproof rating, meaning it can be submerged at 1.5 metres for up to half an hour.

Samsung's ultra-durable phone is also shock resistant and dust-proof.

Many of the specs from the original Galaxy S6 have been retained, including the 5.1in Quad HD SuperAMOLED screen and the Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor.

It also features a 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and 32GB of storage, but sports a larger 3500mAh battery than the other models.

Also new is the 'Activity Zone', which allows users to quickly launch a compass, torch and stopwatch.

Samsung is yet to confirm whether the Galaxy S6 Active is coming to the UK, but it will be released in the U.S. on AT&T on June 12, priced at $199 on contract.
