Showtime renews

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Penny Dreadful" is here to stay. Showtime has once again given an early renewal to the gothic drama, ordering a nine-episode third season of the show for a 2016 premiere. The network announced the news on Tuesday, June 16, AceShowbiz reports.

"John Logan's brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fan base into the meticulously crafted world of 'Penny Dreadful'," Showtime president David Nevins said in a statement. "Together with our wonderful partners at Sky Atlantic, we're excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for season three."

Zai Bennett, Director of Sky Atlantic, added, " 'Penny Dreadful' is the perfect fit for Sky Atlantic; truly international in scale and ambition but with a raft of British talent at its core, and filmed in the Republic of Ireland. I’m thrilled to have the series returning to the channel, and to once again be partnering with John Logan and continuing to work with our good friends at SHOWTIME."

Production on the new season will begin this fall in Dublin, Ireland, where season 1 and 2 were also shot. The second season opener drew 575,000 total viewers to its 10 P.M. showing in May, down 34% from its season 1 debut.
