Azerbaijan blacklists renowned Russian soprano for visiting Artsakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Renowned Russian soprano Lyubov Kazarnovskaya will be included in the list of undesirable people in Azerbaijan because of her recent visit to Nagorno Karabakh, a spokesperson for the Azeri Foreign Ministry, Hikmet Hajiyev said.

The singer, however, is not worried about being a persona non grata in Azerbaijan: she is glad to be in the same black list with Montserrat Caballé, Kazarnovskaya told the Russian News Service.

“I am on the same list with Montserrat Caballé, and this is something I am very proud of. Nagorno Karabakh is an amazing place where I am happy to bring young interns to. No peace can be established on the planet, until there is aggression in the world. People in Karabakh, on the contrary, strive for a world without wars,” she said.

Kazarnovskaya held a master class in Stepanakert musical college in the frameworks of the Tnjre International Music Festival, with more than 20 singers from Karabakh participating. The singer intends to take part in a number of musical projects in NKR.

Back in 2013, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan published a list of personae non gratae who had visited the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. According to media reports, the number of names included exceeds 300, which, however, does not stop prominent celebrities from visiting Karabakh.
