Sigourney Weaver's “Alien” comeback delayed by “Prometheus 2”August 19, 2015 - 16:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sigourney Weaver's much-anticipated and explosive return to the Alien franchise may be delayed until as late as 2018, Digital Spy reports. 20th Century Fox are still hopeful of Alien 5 from director Neill Blomkamp, but it may have to wait until after the release of Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2, according to Bloody Disgusting. Inside sources have claimed that Blomkamp is working on the script but Scott has "insisted" that Prometheus 2 gets made first. Because that's clearly what everyone wants. Prometheus 2 is expected to begin production in 2016, but this has yet to be confirmed. However, this delay means that Sigourney Weaver should be more available after completing work on James Cameron's Avatar sequels. Blomkamp will most likely begin shooting Alien 5 in 2017, with a release the following year. Meanwhile, Aliens actor Michael Biehn told fans at the Sheffield Film and Comic Con event that he has been chatting to Blomkamp about returning as Corporal Hicks, but that he has yet to be officially offered a part. Alien 5 is said to follow in line with the spirit of Aliens, without completely ignoring the events in the later sequels.
