Rumor, however, spread on Wednesday, September 9 that production had been delayed, AceShowbiz reports. The production, scheduled to take place in Toronto, would not start until next year, Latino Review reported. To this point, there is no confirmation on the reason of the delay or what month it will begin. However, Latino Review said the push-back would not likely affect the August 4, 2017 release date. "Pacific Rim 2" is considerably a long-gestating project. del Toro was already talking about the sequel before the first movie arrived in theaters. The follow-up was confirmed in November 2014 and seven months later del Toro said he had planned a great storyline with epic battle at the end of the movie. "We are deep into designing the robots, the Kaijus...having fun planning the battles. We have an epic battle at the end of this that we started to design a couple of weeks ago," del Toro said in July, adding, "We've been up for about three or four months designing, and we start shooting in November." Legendary Pictures is yet to respond to the report. Photo: Total Film Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
