Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara in “Carol” trailer

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Weinstein Company has released a new, full-length “Carol” trailer, which gives audiences a glimpse of how Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara embrace forbidden love in a time period when gay rights were considered highly taboo, TheWrap reports.

Blanchett plays Carol, the eponymous socialite who is trapped in a marriage of convenience while living in 1950’s New York. But when she meets a young store clerk named Therese (Mara), the two form an immediate connection that threatens to tear their worlds apart.

Todd Haynes (“Far From Heaven”) directed the drama fromPhyllis Nagy’s screenplay, based on the Patricia Highsmith‘s novel “The Price of Salt.” In addition to Blanchett and Mara, the film stars Sarah Paulson, Kyle Chandler, Jake Lacy and Cory Michael Smith.

“Carol” will open in select cities beginning Nov. 20.
