Periscope app adds landscape streaming

PanARMENIAN.Net - Periscope users have had to tilt their head to an awkward angle to watch video that was filmed sideways, but that's all changed with the introduction of landscape mode, Digital Spy reports.

Bringing landscape shooting to the firm's iOS, Android and web-based versions will allow live streamers to tilt their phone sideways for full-screen broadcasting.

"When we first launched Periscope, we only supported portrait-mode broadcasting," said Meerkat's nemesis in a statement.

"As much as we're fans of portrait video, we know that there are many times where the scene you're trying to capture is best expressed in landscape.

"We know the community has been craving this feature, but we wanted to be thoughtful about our approach to ensure a seamless experience across all of our platforms."

Twitter-owned Periscope, which has attracted more than 10m users since its March debut, is rumoured to be working on a dedicated app for the new Apple TV box.
