Amazon's Echo speaker now doubles as personal news anchor

An option called Trove has been added to the connected speaker, which dictates the headlines while you kick back and relax.

It only offers a summary of the day's news, so users will have to look elsewhere for in-depth commentary on the latest headlines.

The update also gives Echo users greater control over their alerts, allowing them to cancel their daily wake-up at the weekend and set limits on specific timers.

Echo uses seven microphones and has noise-cancelling technology to hear commands even when it is playing music. It also produces 360-degree audio and is Bluetooth-compatible, enabling music to be played via audio apps like Spotify.
