"Black Mirror" critically acclaimed sci-fi series lands new episodesSeptember 26, 2015 - 11:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Netflix came out as a winner in the fierce bidding war against HBO and Syfy for Charlie Brooker's critically acclaimed anthology series "Black Mirror". The streaming giant announced on Friday, September 25 that it has ordered 12 new episodes of the twisted UK sci-fi series, AceShowbiz reports. Brooker has begun writing the new season which will go into production in the UK before the year ends and is expected to premiere next year. Together with Annabel Jones, he would be showrunner of the series under their Endemol Shine Group-based House of Tomorrow company. Brooker exec produced the first seven episodes. "It's all very exciting - a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that Black Mirror feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true," Brooker said. Netflix vice president Cindy Holland added, "Charlie has created a one-of-a-kind series with an uncanny voice and prescient, darkly comedic vision. We're tremendously proud to bring Black Mirror to our members as a Netflix original series." First season of the series, consisting of three episodes, aired in 2011 on UK's Channel 4. Another three episodes made the second season in 2013 with Jon Hamm appearing in a Christmas 2014 special. Netflix played all of these past episodes last year and the series instantly became a hit Stateside.
