Foreign Minister attends UN General Assembly session in NY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian attended Friday, September 25, the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Minister participated in the opening of UN’s Post-2015 Development Agenda summit, with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, German Chancellor, the Spanish King, Presidents of Egypt and Vietnam, as well as heads of many other states and governments delivering speeches.

At the session, the UN approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a 15-year blueprint to eradicate extreme poverty, combat climate change and address more than a dozen other major global issues.

Minister Nalbandian also met with his Norwegian counterpart Borge Brende to discuss options for expanding bilateral cooperation. Upon Brende’s request, Nalbandian briefed him on Armenia’s and the international community’s efforts towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The Armenian official further met with his Bulgarian counterpart Daniel Mitov, with the parties discussing measures to boost bilateral ties.
