Director James Gunn reveals details on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"

Director James Gunn reveals details on

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director James Gunn has been active in responding to rumors about "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". During a recent 50-minute Q&A with fans on Facebook, the director provided some new details about the movie, revealing which character that would and wouldn't appear in the upcoming film, AceShowbiz reports.

According to the director, the second movie would be "something a little bit in the vein of the first movie and also different." He also said that that fans should expect a younger, smaller Groot in the sequel after his rebirth at the end of the first film.

Gunn confirmed that there would be one new character in the upcoming movie. "I'm not going to give names and I won't give numbers either, but there will be at least one new character," he revealed. However, he clarified that there would not be any other human besides Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). "There will be no other humans - humans being earthlings - besides Quill," Gunn said.

Unlike other people in Marvel family, who are keen on integrating various characters into a shared universe, Gunn's seemingly not interested in that idea. When asked whether the members of Avengers would appear in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel, he appeared to be dismissive. "Everybody seems so addicted to this idea of seeing a character mashed up with another character, and that's just not my interest," he said.

The director stressed that he would rather focus on developing the already-established characters in "Guardians" than build a new universe which might contain other Marvel heroes. "My interest is to tell stories that are deeper and better about the characters that we've already known. Even though I am adding characters - one character, at least, in [Vol. 2], it really is about getting to know the characters better. It isn't about mixing and matching characters. That's kind of boring to me, actually," Gunn said.

The second installment of "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie series is scheduled for a release in the U.S. on May 5, 2017. Pratt along with Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan and Bradley Cooper are back to reprise their respective roles.
