It seems the wait is finally over for Adele fans - a mysterious, 30-second excerpt of her new material played during an X Factor ad break on 18 October evening, Gigwise reports.

The singer released her second album, 21, back in 2011, when it achieved critical acclaim and huge commercial success. The album has gone 11x Platinum in the US and 16x Platinum in the UK.

Shortly thereafter, she won an Oscar for 'Skyfall' - her contribution to the Bond film of the same name - but since then, she's fallen out of the public eye entirely. Until now.

During the ad break for X Factor, the screen went black save for white lyrics, while 30 seconds of a brand new, and quite brilliant, Adele song played. There were no dates, no title, and no other information, Gigwise said.
