Magnolia Pictures nabs “Noma – My Perfect Storm” documentary

PanARMENIAN.Net - Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American rights to “Noma – My Perfect Storm”, TheWrap reports.

The documentary follows celebrated chef Rene Redzepi against the backdrop of his Copenhagen-based restaurant, which was voted The World’s Best Restaurant in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

The film, directed by Pierre Deschamps and produced by Documentree Films Ltd., will stage its North American premiere at DOC New York City before being released in theaters, On Demand and on iTunes on Dec. 18.

The restaurant, called Noma, is famous for experimenting with new techniques in food and reinventing Danish cuisine. In the film, Redzepi traverses the Danish landscape for inspiration to achieve the perfect, bold dish.

Inspired by two books written by Redzepi, Deschamps spent more than three years at the restaurant.

“Rarely have viewers been given such an intimate glimpse inside the mind of René Redzepi and the high-octane world of Noma,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Pierre Deschamps has crafted a fascinating film about cultural reinvention through food, and what it takes to stay on top.”

The deal was negotiated by Magnolia SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley and Magnolia VP of Acquisitions John Von Thaden, with Susan Wendt of TrustNordisk.
