Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander in "Fantastic Beasts" 1st pic

PanARMENIAN.Net - The first official pictures of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" have landed online, giving a first look at Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the central character in the film. Making its way out via EW, the photos also feature other actors including Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler.

One of the images captures Redmayne in full costume as his character, wearing a thick blue coat over a dark brown suit while wielding a magic wand and holding a briefcase. He is seen standing inside the entrance of Magical Congress of the United States of America (or MACUSA), which is the American version of the Ministry of Magic.

There are also some behind-the-scenes photos that show Redmayne walking alongside Waterston in London, which is transformed into a replica of 1920s New York.

In other news from the same universe, author J.K. Rowling has introduced several new words that will be used in the upcoming film. The word "Muggle" will be replaced by "No-Maj." Muggle is the term for people without magical powers.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" centers on Scamander, the schoolbook's fictitious author in the Potterverse. The movie is set 70 years before Harry Potter reads Scamander's book in Hogwarts. It will also chronicle Scamander's adventures in New York, where he travels to discover and document more magical creatures. Inspired by Hogwarts textbook of the same name, the adventure fantasy movie is slated for a U.S. release on December 18, 2016. David Yates serves behind the lens with J.K.
