Yunusov: Baku Should Expect U.S. Pressure in Karabakh Issue
"I do not know whether Armenia will receive the status of United States' permanent trade partner. A lot of factors, including the geopolitical one, influence on a decision of the kind. But one thing is clear: good times are coming for Armenia and the U.S. economic assistance to Armenia is likely to increase," said Arif Yunusov, the Director of the Department of Conflictology of the Institute of Peace and Democracy. However, in his words, there will be no major changes in the Nagorno Karabakh process, since the periods of elections expected in Armenia and Azerbaijan do not promise any radical moves.
"However the United States will be nervous about the statements of the Azeri leadership to settle the conflict by force. Azerbaijan will face pressure. Americans will abide by the following principle: if it's impossible to settle the Karabakh conflict now let's prevent war," the Azeri expert said, reports Day.az.
