Ian McShane reveals details on his “Game of Thrones” character

Since it was reported that Ian McShane would join the cast of "Game of Thrones" season 6, HBO hasn't officially revealed his character. Now, the actor himself has shared detail of what his character is up to on the show, AceShowbiz reports.

"I'll give you one hint," the Blackbeard of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" told Pop Goes The News on Thursday, November 12 in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico. He coyly added, "I am responsible for bringing somebody back that you think you're never going to see again. I'll leave it at that." He also said that his character's "a one-off episode."

Which character whom McShane's alter ego will bring back? This certainly starts another question and fans may link McShane's character to Kit Harington's Jon Snow, who was stabbed by members of the Night's Watch in the season 5 finale but is believed to return in the upcoming season. There's also a speculation that Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairly) will be resurrected as Lady Stoneheart.

Previous rumors said McShane would portray a character who has a scene with an outlaw band mentioned in the casting call that was released shortly after season 5 wrapped up. His role reportedly won't have a lot of screentime, but he has an important part in the storyline. It's suggested that he could play Lachlan, the outlaw band leader. This, however, should be taken with a grain of salt.

"Game of Thrones" season 6 is currently in production for a 2016 premiere.
