Apple shutting down Beats Music streaming service

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple is shutting down Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine's Beats Music streaming service, following the launch of Apple Music, Digital Spy reports.

The tech giant confirmed November 13 that Beats Music is scheduled to go offline after November 30.

This move continues the company's shift towards promoting its new streaming service Apple Music, which incorporates a mix of live programming and curated playlists.

Subscribers to Beats Music will have the option of transferring their listening preferences over to Apple Music beginning in December.

Beats was officially launched in January 2014 as an internet radio and streaming app - and quickly came under the Apple banner a few months later when Beats Electronics was acquired.

News of Apple's decision to shut down Beats Music broke earlier on November 13, after Apple sent out an email to subscribers announcing the platform's end date.

Apple also announced on its support page: "Beats Music ends on November 30. Your subscription will be cancelled, but you can move your picks and preferences over to Apple Music right now.

"All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more amazing experiences. Plus, on Apple Music, you'll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favorite artist, and more."

Apple Music launched in June with original music shows hosted by the likes of Zane Lowe, St Vincent, Dr Dre and Josh Homme.
