Kocharian: Turkey's Line towards EU to Influence on Relations with Armenia
Turkey's aspiration to the European Union implies normalization of relations with neighbor states, including Armenia, RA President Robert Kocharian, who is in Cyprus on a state visit at present, said upon completion of talks with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopolous. "We are interested in Turkey's accession process, which will certainly have an impact on relations with Armenia," he said. The RA President remarked that Yerevan supports Cyprus's interests in the international organizations during the discussions of the Cypriot issue. "Armenia stands for the soonest resolution of the Cypriot problem with the will of the Cypriot people and its leadership," he underscored.
For his part Tassos Papadopolous said that they discussed bilateral relations including cooperation in educational, banking, travel and cultural fields and added that he received RA President's proposal to visit Armenia in 2007. Within the framework of the visit the Ministers of Justice of Armenia and Cyprus signed today an intergovernmental agreement on expanding cooperation in struggle against organized crime, reports ITAR-TASS.
