Joe Shrapnel, Anna Waterhouse to rewrite Charlize Theron’s “Gray Man”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Writing duo Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have come on board to rewrite “The Gray Man” for Sony Pictures, sources confirmed to Variety.

Charlize Theron is currently attached to star with Christopher McQuarrie to direct.

The movie is based on the Mark Greaney novel, which focuses on an expert CIA op-turned-assassin who is forced to evade adversaries as he saves the lives of daughters he didn’t know were still alive. The studio is putting a twist on the story by swapping the gender of the main character for Theron.

Theron is producing along with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum.

Joe and Anthony Russo were once on board to write and direct the projects. The Russos are currently busy with “The Avengers: Infinity War” and had to part ways with the project, leaving way for McQuarrie to direct and Shrapnel and Winterhouse to pen the script.

No production will be set until a final draft has been turned in.

Shrapnel and Winterhouse next pic “Race,” following the life of Jesse Owens, bows next year. The two are also currently developing an adaptation of “Circle Of Treason” and “The Aftermath,” which Scott Free is producing.
