"Independence Day: Resurgence" 1st trailer features Jeff Goldblum (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - 20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for "Independence Day: Resurgence", AceShowbiz reports. Taking place 20 years after the events in the first film, the upcoming movie features the return of the aliens as they attack the earth with their biggest force yet.

The two-minute video opens with Jeff Goldblum's David Levinson finding out that the earth will soon be faced with extraordinary threats. "I spent 20 years trying to get us ready for this," says Levinson. "We used their technology to strengthen our planet, but it won't be enough."

"I see them in my dreams. They're coming back," President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) says. The trailer then continues showing some destruction caused by the aliens' force. It also features a group of ingenious people who become part of Earth Space Defense program, the worldwide program which uses sophisticated technology to protect the planet from the aliens' invasion. As for Liam Hemsworth's character, who is working in a moon base, he seems to form a romantic bond with Whitmore's daughter, played by Maika Monroe.

Roland Emmerich directs and writes the first draft of the script alongside Dean Devlin. The sequel also brings back Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner along with new additions William Fichtner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King and Sela Ward. The sci-fi movie will be released Stateside on June 24, 2016.
