“Wrath of the Titans” writer to pen “Section 6” spy picDecember 19, 2015 - 15:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - “Wrath of the Titans” writer Dan Mazeau has been tapped to work on Universal’s spy pic “Section 6,” sources confirmed to Variety. Aaron Berg penned the original spec, which Universal won in a heated bidding war back in 2013, paying six figures for the property. At the time, the film seemed on a fast track to production with “Attack the Block” helmer Joe Cornish attaching himself to direct and “Unbroken” star Jack O’Connell coming on to star. A greenlight seemed like the next logical step. The film covers the origins of MI6. Because of this, the project ran the risk of incurring copyright infringement claims from MGM and James Bond rightsholder Danjaq, who claimed it to be a Bond knockoff given the similar roots. The parties settled earlier this year, paving the way for the project to move forward. Mazeau’s involvemen marks a big step in getting the film off the ground. Marc Platt will produce alongside Adam Siegel for Marc Platt Productions. Lawrence Grey will produce via his Grey Matter Productions. Nira Park, who produced “Attack the Block,” will produce for Big Talk Pictures. Mazeau recently worked on “World’s Most Wanted,” an action-thriller with Vin Diesel loosely attached to star and Neal Moritz producing for Universal. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news.
