Awesome news for fans of Nine Inch Nails - the 'Hurt' and Closer' industrial metal kings are set to return in 2016, with a tour, new songs, lyrics and a massive new album added to their discography, Gigwise reports.

“We were already expecting a new art book, Cargo In The Blood, but beyond that, the year looks set to much bigger than we expected,” Gigwise said.

Trent Reznor took to Twitter to share the good news.

The band have not dropped a full studio album since 2013's Hesitation Marks, but Reznor has been pretty busy - not only is he said to be working on a musical of the cult movie Fight Club, but he released the incredible soundtrack to Gone Girl, working on the Arkham Knight soundtrack - and also taking the time to appear on Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways documentary.
