PanARMENIAN.Net - A number of actors considered to play young Han Solo in the upcoming "Star Wars" spin-off have been narrowed down. As AceShowbiz reports citing Variety, the shortlist includes Miles Teller ("The Fantastic Four"), Ansel Elgort ("The Fault in Our Stars") and Dave Franco ("Neighbors").

Other candidates to take the lead role in the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II are Jack Reynor ("Transformers: Age of Extinction"), Scott Eastwood ("Fury") and Logan Lerman ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower"). "Brooklyn" actor Emory Cohen and "Glee" alum Blake Jenner have reportedly made the cut as well.

There is no word on who the frontrunner is but producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller "will begin testing the new group with a decision expected in the next couple of weeks." The film is planned for a May 25, 2018 release and won't be filmed until next January.

In the meantime, another "Star Wars" spin-off called "Rogue One" that focuses on a band of resistance fighters is currently in production. Gareth Edwards serves behind the lens and Felicity Jones is tapped to portray the lead character. It's due in the U.S. on December 16, 2016.
