Armenia to chair Eurocontrol's Permanent Commission in 2016

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will chair the Permanent Commission of European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) in 2016, the organization’s Secretary General told reporters Tuesday, January 12.

Addressing the reporters following an inspection of Zvartnotz International Airport, Frank Brenner noted that Armenia became a Eurocontrol member in 2006 and has registered significant progress since.

Also, Eurocontrol and Armenia's General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) signed an agreement to reform the country's legal and legislative framework in the field of air navigation.

According to Brenner, the deal will help improve air safety.

Head of DGCA Artyom Movsisyan said, in turn, that Armenia's cooperation with Eurocontrol most notably concerns the enhancement of air safety level in the use of airspace.
