BBC iPlayer debuts tribute documentary on Motörhead's LemmyJanuary 23, 2016 - 16:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Late Motorhead frontman Lemmy will be the focus of a new BBC documentary, NME reports. Lemmy: In His Own Words is available on iPlayer from January 22 and is comprised of archive footage from BBC interviews and live performances. Footage from the documentary has been taken from previous BBC series including I'm In A Rock 'N' Roll Band and Heavy Metal Britannia plus live performances including Motörhead appearances on Later...With Jools Holland, The Young Ones and Top of the Pops. BBC Music editor James Stirling says: "Lemmy was a colossal figure in British music and he had a unique approach to both his songs and the industry he found himself in. "There was a smart sense of humour at the heart of everything, something clearly demonstrated through his interviews and performances we've uncovered from the BBC Music archive." Lemmy died on December 28 last year, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer just two days before his death. He was aged 70. Lemmy's funeral was held in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 9, with Dave Grohl, Slash and more in attendance. Speaking at the service, Slash said of Lemmy: "He was such a fucking great example that much of my peers want to be. He was just true to school and had more integrity in one finger than most rock and rollers." Following his death, 'Ace Of Spades' made it to Number 13 in the UK Singles Chart. There have also been a number of more unique tributes to Lemmy since his death, including a Limp Bizkit cover of 'Ace Of Spades', a signature whiskey bottle and a petition to rename Jack Daniels and Coke a 'Lemmy'.
