Xiaomi unveils date for next flagship smartphone announcement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Xiaomi is set to announce a new flagship smartphone, the Mi 5, on February 24, the Verge reports.

That is one of the final days of Mobile World Congress, so an event may be held at the show, giving it a chance to make a splash during a big event for the phone industry.

The only confirmed detail of the Mi 5 is that it'll be using a Snapdragon 820, making it only the second phone to use Qualcomm's latest top-of-the-line processor (barring any other companies introducing a phone with it between now and then). That said, Android Central reports that there have been a lot of leaked specs, with recent reports suggesting that the new phone will have a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, a base of 32GB of storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 13-megapixel front camera. That sounds nice, but how Xiaomi puts it all together — and the services it offers on top of it — will ultimately be what matters.
