Comedy legend Bob Elliott dies at 92

PanARMENIAN.Net - Bob Elliott, the comedy legend who was half of the duo Bob and Ray, died on Tuesday. He was 92 years old, TheWrap reports.

Elliott’s death was confirmed by his son Chris Elliott, who is himself an actor and comedian. Chris spoke with the New York Times, saying that his father died at his home in Maine.

Bob Elliott was also the grandfather of “Saturday Night Live” veteran Abby Elliott, Chris’ daughter.

He first met Ray Goulding when they both worked as radio announcers in Boston in the late 1940s. Their comedic chemistry was so good that they were called in to perform together on the air during Red Sox games.

The duo proved so popular that they remained mainstays on national radio for the next 40 years, doing shows for NBC, CBS and NPR. They would perform their humorous skits in deadpan voices that made the broadcasts sound real.

Elliott also found success on the big and small screens, appearing in numerous television and film roles throughout the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, usually alongside Goulding, who passed away in 1990.

Elliott also worked on numerous projects with his son Chris, such as the latter’s short-lived TV series “Get a Life” and the 1994 movie “Cabin Boy.”

He is survived by his five children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
