VivaCell-MTS helps families improve housing conditions

PanARMENIAN.Net - Three families celebrated housewarming in the border village of Khachik in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province.

Owing to the partnership between VivaCell-MTS and Fuller Center for Housing Armenia, the construction of two half-built houses was completed, with another family having renovated the roof of their house.

The heads of the partnering organizations visited Khachik community to share the joy of housewarming with the families.

For those living in border communities, a decent home is not only a necessary living condition, but also a matter of strategic importance.

“We had started the construction of the house for several years now, hoping to slowly finish. Today my family is full of vigor and hope for a better future. It seems that a new life has begun for us. We are endlessly grateful to you,” said Valerik, the father of the Hayrapetyan family.

“It is not the first time that the village of Khachik has appeared in the center of VivaCell-MTS attention,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said. “Years ago we built a water supply system and a playground in Khachik, also providing ambulance cars for the village. We have tried to solve the most acute problems of this community. Now the housing problem of three families has been solved. I am confident that readiness to support our compatriots with programs of this kind is important not just from social, but also strategic point of view. 13 families in this province have benefited from the housing project implemented in cooperation with the Fuller Center for Housing Armenia.”

To date, VivaCell-MTS has contributed over AMD 228.3 million for the basic reconstruction or renovation of houses thus improving the quality of life of 480 socially vulnerable people in 31 villages, 9 of which are situated on the border.
