“Bethlehem” helmer to direct eco-thriller “The Last Of The Tribe”February 9, 2016 - 12:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Bethlehem helmer Yuval Adler has come attached to direct The Last Of The Tribe, an eco-thriller set in the Brazilian Amazon. Mark Bailey wrote the script based on a book by Monte Reel, and Chockstone Pictures optioned film rights, Deadline reveals. The film is rooted in fact. More than 40 undiscovered indigenous tribes make their home in the Brazilian Amazon. The constitution states that if even a single indigenous tribe member is found living in the wild, the surrounding land becomes a preserve and cannot be exploited commercially. One such Indian was discovered in 1996, setting off a violent struggle for his survival. The drama centers on a washed-up former Chicago cop who finds himself in the middle of a fight to save a lone Indian — the last of his tribe — from corporate interests trying to kill him. The film will be produced by Steve Schwartz, Ed Saxon, Paula Mae Schwartz, Dave Bartis and Doug Liman. Bailey will be an executive producer and Roger Schwartz is a co-producer. Said Adler: “I found in The Last Of The Tribe an incredibly moving story — a story of a man finding redemption in the most unlikely of places. I’m fascinated by narratives that explore serious issues, show us a piece of the world, make us experience viscerally what we would normally only hear about. When I read Mark Bailey’s script, I experienced the toll of unrestrained global industrial growth as I never did before.” Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
