"The Light Between Oceans" unveils heartbreaking 1st trailer (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - A baby who floats inside a little boat in the ocean changes the life of Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander in a very significant way. First trailer of "The Light Between Oceans" shows how a couple raises a child they fatefully find and deals with tormenting decisions when the birth mother is found, AceShowbiz said.

Directed by Derek Cianfrance of "The Place Beyond the Pines", the movie is based on the best-selling first novel by M.L. Stedman. Set on a remote Australian island in the years following WWI, it follows a lighthouse keeper and his wife who are faced with a moral dilemma when a boat washes ashore with a dead man and an infant. When they decide to raise the child as their own, the consequences are devastating.

Fassbender and Vikander play the couple while Rachel Weisz is the woman who lost the baby. "She does not belong to us. We can't keep her," Fassbender's Tom Sherbourne tells Vikander's Isabel. Tom also tells his wife that "one day this will feel like a dream. I promise."

"The Light Between Oceans", which is the last DreamWorks title to be released by Disney under their five-year contract, will hit theaters across the nation on September 2. The drama was expected to be released last year but it is poised to run for the 2016-17 Oscar season race. Both Fassbender and Vikander are already in this year's Oscar race for "Steve Jobs" and "The Danish Girl" respectively.
