Sam Raimi to helm Warner Bros.' futuristic thriller “World War 3”

PanARMENIAN.Net - After spending some time focusing on helming episodes of "Ash vs. Evil Dead", Sam Raimi has signed on to direct his next big screen project. Nearly three years after his latest movie, "Oz the Great and Powerful", was released, the filmmaker is now set to make "World War 3" for Warner Bros., AceShowbiz reveals.

The flick is an adaptation of geopolitical forecaster George Friedman's non-fiction best-seller "The Next 100 Years". In the book published in 2009, Friedman makes predictions about a possible future based on previous historical trends and the current geo-political climate.

The United States' war with Jihadist being replaced by a second cold war with Russia, Mexico becoming an important force on the geopolitical stage and China's role as a world power diminishing are among predictions he's made in the book.

"World War 3" is the first project coming out of a two-year, first-look production deal between Bill Block's Billblock Media and Warner Bros. As part of the production deal, Block has closed a multimillion-dollar private development fund to acquire and develop projects with global distribution potential for packaging.

"Warner Bros is an extraordinary studio, and we are grateful and thrilled to be in business with Greg and his creative team as we develop movies with worldwide box office potential. Starting with a film by Sam Raimi kicks off what we hope will be a long and fruitful relationship," Block said of the partnership.
