Diplo, Fatboy Slim to headline Bestival’s 'Spaceport' stage

PanARMENIAN.Net - Bestival have announced a new stage to appear at the 2016 festival, to be called 'The Spaceport', and headlined by Diplo, Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox, NME reports.

The stage will be a "laser loaded mega structure", and contain a 20 metre tall space ship at its centre. The festival have also talked up the quality of the bass on the accompanying sound system.

Talking of the new stage, curator Rob Da Bank said "be under no illusions my futuristic friends… This stage is going to blow your mind and take you interstellar like no other stage before… This is The Future of the dance. HMS Bestival, our trusty old ship, has sunk or otherwise been sucked down a Bermuda Triangle shaped whirlpool, and thus we are reinventing Robin Hill’s sacred rave space once more with a spaceship the likes Planet Earth has never witnessed."

The Cure and Major Lazer are set to headline the Isle of Wight-based festival in 2016.

Alongside the headliners, other artists announced include Animal Collective, Hot Chip, Wolf Alice, Years & Years, Ride, Skepta, Bastille, Craig David, Skream, Katy B, MØ and more.

Each year the festivals pick a theme, with this year confirmed as "the future".

"So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far … far away … into the future," Rob da Bank said in a statement at the time of the line-up announcements.

"Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre."

Bestival runs from September 8-11.
