Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen to helm “Cadaver” horror

PanARMENIAN.Net - Dutch filmmaker Diederik Van Rooijen has signed on to direct horror movie Cadaver for Screen Gems, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Brian Sieve (Boogeyman 2) wrote the script for the film, which centers on a female cop just out of rehab who takes a graveyard shift in a city hospital morgue, where a series of bizarre and violent events are caused by a corpse harboring an evil entity.

Sean Robins and Todd Garner will produce the project via their Broken Road Productions banner. Michael Bitar brought Cadaver to Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper and Scott Strauss, executive vp production, who will both oversee the project for the company.

Van Rooijen is best known as the writer and director of the Dutch TV series Penoza, which was remade for U.S. audiences as ABC's Red Widow. He also directed the 2013 Dutch film Daylight and the 2012 thriller Taped, which has an English-language adaptation in the works at Sony, with Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher (The Great Gatsby) producing.

Van Rooijen is also attached to a reimagining of the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds at Universal and an action film about a female assassin called Danny Boy. He is repped by WME, Principato-Young and Bloom Hergott.

Along with Boogeyman 2, Sieve wrote Exorcism at Lincoln High, which is currently in development. He is repped by Verve and Magnet Management.
