Baku spreads misinformation, paves way for provocations: Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani media outlets, citing the local Defense Ministry press office, reported Thursday, March 24 that the Armenian troops had allegedly used large caliber machine guns and mortars to open fire on the civilian population in border villages, thus escalating the situation on the contact line.

Later that day, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Defense Ministry declared that Artsakh Army stays committed to agreements reached and never initiates attacks. The Defense Army said it has nothing to do with the casualties, registered in the Azerbaijani army on March 19-20.

“Throughout the more than 20-year history of the conflict, the Azerbaijani side has been escalating the situation on the eve of important meetings and holidays. Spreading such misinformation, the rival paves the way for future provocations,” the Karabakh Defense Ministry said.

Azerbaijani forces violated the truce on the night of March 23-24, firing over 1100 shots from various caliber firearms, as well as an AGS-17 grenade launcher, the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army says.

Karabakh troops continue controlling the situation on the contact line and protecting their positions.
