First look at Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne in Luc Besson’s “Valerian”March 25, 2016 - 16:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Director Luc Besson has revealed on Instagram a first look at his upcoming sci-fi pic “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, Variety reports. The epic, based on Jean-Claude Mezieres and Pierre Christin’s French comic series “Valerian and Laureline,” is set in the 28th century, when humanity has discovered the craft of time travel. The film adaptation will follow a time-traveling agent and his trusty sidekick as they investigate the workings of a galactic empire. Besson directed and wrote the screenplay for “Valerian,” which his wife Virginie Besson Silla will produce on behalf of EuropaCorp. Herbie Hancock, John Goodman, Rihanna, Clive Owen and Ethan Hawke also star in the film. Though minimal character details have been announced, Besson revealed that DeHaan will star as the time-traveling Valerian with Delevingne as Laureline, his partner in crime. Goodman will voice an alien creature. The filmmaker’s first-look Instagram post (below) — captioned “Valerian and Laureline … And a guy on the back!” — previews the space travels of Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne), who are outfitted in protective spacesuits. Besson has made several other casting announcements via his Instagram account as well. The film will hit theaters in the summer of 2017.
