Fresno State film, lecture series to address Armenian Genocide, identity

PanARMENIAN.Net - Fresno State’s Armenian Studies Program is hosting two events this week on topics of Armenian identity, immigration and experience, the Fresno Bee reports.

On Wednesday, March 30, Roberta Ervine will speak about “Armenians on What Matters Most” in the Alice Peters Auditorium of the University Business Center. Ervine is a visiting professor at Fresno State. She will be discussing the “tectonic shift that clearly took place in the minds and hearts of Armenians who survived the Genocide” and the journey to fostering Armenian unity and values in a new landscape.

On Friday, April 1, Fresno State CineCulture’s series will host the film “Our Village,” which follows the lives of three rural families in Armenia. Armenian director Yelena Arshakyan will be present to discuss her film following the screening, the Fresno Bee says.

The film will be screened at the Leon and Pete Peters Educational Center Auditorium.
