Tesla Model S “is now resilient to bioweapons”

The Tesla Model S will reportedly gain the "Bioweapon Defense Mode" air filtration system from the Model X and a 100kWh battery option. The Verge has heard from a source that the new options may be introduced as soon as this week, alongside the debut of the Model X custom order configurator on the Tesla website. The current largest battery available in the Model S is a 90kWh option.

The information comes on the heels of a report last week that claimed the Model S would gain new "luxury-minded appointments" like LED headlights and ventilated seats, with the latter also coming from the Model X. Other tweaks include modest changes to the nose and new paint colors. It's possible that any or all of these upgrades could be delayed or cancelled entirely, as Tesla has been known to change its plans at the last minute, The Verge reports.

Tesla doesn't use "model years" like traditional carmakers, but the Model S has received a number of upgrades over the years. The biggest upgrade was the addition of the semi-autonomous Autopilot hardware last year.
